App Update Q1/2025

Image Description

New functions for waiting times

Waiting in the queue is boring. We have now adapted the already integrated display and added new functions, which will hopefully shorten your wait.

  • In the app, you can find the waiting times directly at the attractions in the respective supported theme park
  • In the park, you can sort the attractions by waiting time
  • Short times are displayed in green - average waiting times in orange and long waiting times in red
  • In the respective attraction, a progression of the waiting times is visible
  • Now activate the waiting time alarm clock: When the waiting time decreases - you will be actively informed!
  • Bonus: Closed or temporarily closed attractions report promptly when they reopen
  • All waiting time alarms that have not been triggered are reset during the night ;)

Social Features, Community & Gamification

We are taking a further step in the area of "socialising" with new functions:

  • Give your profile a personal character and upload an avatar picture or photo of yourself
  • Profiles can now also be found and displayed in the search
  • The profile page displays your personal statistics
  • Use the "Follow" function to follow other users

By the way: To protect your privacy, you can of course also set your profile to "private" and nothing will be revealed publicly.

Gamingfication

We are not just statisticians. We want to give our passion more glamour by not only generating statistics based on numbers through the counted rides & attractions, but also by celebrating your personal successes with a small "reward system". To do this, we have stored badges in your profile, which you will unlock depending on the attractions you have rated. But you won't see all the badges straight away. Some are hidden and only appear as a surprise when you have fulfilled the requirements for such a badge.

Do you have any ideas for other little "games" in the app? Then simply suggest them to us - as a message from the app or our social media channels.

Fairground & funfair attractions

The next step in terms of funfair attractions and folk festivals is the definition of "fairground attractions". Our app has been designed in such a way that we need a park (fixed location) in which the attractions are assigned. This is of course difficult for funfairs and folk festivals and is not compatible with our previous idea. However, we are working on finding a well-structured home for this category. We are now collecting the respective rides and their showmen under "Amusement park: funfairs and fairground attractions". This will build on the fact that we can inspire the funfair fans among you with a good database.

Sponsoring system

We are looking forward to the first supporters who appreciate our work in the app and support us with a small sponsorship. The concept and system behind it has been adapted again after the first experiences.

Active sponsors will receive a small crown on their profile as a token of thanks and appreciation. Your donation enables us to offset the costs of operation and further development to some extent. To ensure that this remains the case, we now also occasionally nudge users of our app ;) Do you like our app too? Then why not become a sponsor too ♥

Behind the scenes

Standardised login

At first glance, this may seem less important to a user, but behind the scenes we have changed a lot - or had to change a lot for our planned future functions. The Coaster Cloud is not only available on iOS and Android, but also as a website. As far as we know, we are the first provider to offer a common login on all platforms. We rely on a secure OAuth procedure, which will enable other login options such as social or platform login in the future. This means that only one access is required - regardless of where and which device.

Design adjustments

One special feature of our app is the "clean" design language. We are not colourful or flashy in our choice of colours. We try to be as effective and user-friendly as possible with our icons and the way the app is used. In response to our user feedback, we have adapted the app's dark mode slightly to provide more contrast and make it more accessible for people with visual impairments.

We have also added a filter for the Halloween attractions so that the season-specific attractions are not perceived as disruptive during the rest of the year. We switch the affected attractions to archive mode AFTER Halloween. As we never know which attraction will return in the next season, we currently have to reactivate Halloween every year.

Image upload function

New photos of amusement parks and attractions can currently only be uploaded in the app. The website has been removed as an "editor platform". Instead, the upload has now been enhanced with an easy-to-understand cropping programme. We always need photos in landscape format - 16 to 9 format. Many thanks to all those who regularly provide us with new photos.

Feedback system

We have added a small speech bubble to the app. This allows you to send us a message directly from the app. The amusement park or attraction from which the message was sent is also sent directly. Now it's easier for us to find out which rollercoaster someone is talking about when they write "it's currently closed" ;) You can also contact us in general and report wishes or missing parks and attractions or add missing data (Contribution)

More performance & bug fixes

Gold Rush (Slaghaaren)

We are very proud that our professional experience in development also shows its benefits in the app. We always incorporate the constant learning process and personal development into our app. Data economy and respect for privacy make the analysis somewhat more time-consuming for us, but safer for the user. The predominant absence of third-party tools allows our app to work faster and more efficiently than ever before. Compared to other amusement park app providers, we fall very far short of the required access to personal data and hardware.

Thanks to our continuous performance optimisations & bug fixes as well as adjustments for user-friendliness, our app comes in at just ~32MB, which is a clear "lightweight" in the app scene.

We need just 13 technical authorisations in Android mode, for example, for our app to function reliably. The IT infrastructure is operated exclusively* by ourselves.

*) Exceptions are the certified payment methods of the store providers - also only when using the sponsoring function.

Social media

On the day after your visit to the theme park (recognised by "counts"), you will receive a notification from our R.I.D.E. Op with a summary of your day. Which attractions in which park did you experience? You can then use the graphic in 9 to 16 format directly for your social media accounts. Simply click on "Share", download the graphic and then publish it on your account.
